About Me

Robert Steven Mack is a dancer, actor and filmmaker. He is a senior at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music double majoring in Ballet and History with departmental honors and with a minor in Classics. He began his ballet training under Diane Lauridsen. During his summers, he trained at The Royal Ballet, Princess Grace Academy, and American Ballet Theatre New York. At IU, he has trained with Michael Vernon, Carla Körbes, Kyra Nichols, Sasha Janes, Christian Claessens and Sarah Wroth. He is the recipient of the Premiere Young Artist Award and a member of the Hutton Honors College. He has been featured in Anthony Tudors’ “Dark Elegies,” Jerome Robbins’ “The Concert” and has performed ballets by Christopher Wheeldon, Mark Morris, Martha Graham, Nichol Haskins, Sasha Janes and Michael Vernon. In summer 2019, he performed the role of Ogress with American Ballet Theatre in Alexei Ratmansky’s “Sleeping Beauty” at the Metropolitan Opera House. In December 2020, he performed in Ballet Project OC’s virtual production of “The Nutcracker.”

As a filmmaker, his short films “Shift” and “Midnight in the Park” were screened at festivals around the country and garnered numerous awards. His recent short, “Chisel,” shot on 16mm, has already been screened at three festivals. He also collaborated with jazz composer John Raymond and choreographer Sarah Wroth to direct a music/dance video, “North,” shot on Super 8 film. He is a member of SAG/AFTRA.
